The Headmaster of Asonkwaa M/A JHS at Nkoranza South Municipality of the Brong Ahafo Region, Mr. Agyeman Kodom David and his family are sleeping in the office of the school due to lack of accommodation.
According to the headmaster who spoke to reporters stated that, due to lack of accommodation most of his teachers walk miles before they get to the the school and this he said is affecting teaching and learning.
According to him the school has over one thousand students but lack facilities like toilet and urinal and so both teachers and students go to bush anytime they want to visit nature’s call.
He also said the school lacks furniture and as a result students especially those at the lower primary always come to school with stools to sit on.
He has therefore pleaded with government and philanthropists to come to their aid as students population keep on increasing though there are inadequate classrooms to accommodate them.
Some of the teachers also complained that due to lack of more classrooms they have to combine classes to teach them together. This they say make teaching and learning ineffective.
The Assembly member for the area, Hon.Paul Kwaku Bio also appealed to government to immediately come to their aid by completing an abandoned teachers’ bungalow for them to get access to accommodation.
